New communications strategy helps boost applications to uToronto

University of Toronto officials are crediting a new strategy for communicating with prospective students for the increase in Ontario secondary school students making the institution their first choice for university. In recent years uToronto has invested heavily in an online interactive presence, which includes a Web portal for prospective students. The cover of the university's viewbook features a QR code, which, when scanned, pops up a video of writer Malcolm Gladwell, who speaks about his experience at uToronto and how it influenced his methods of researching problems and his journalistic style.
