uSask medical residents raise concerns about training

July 22, 2011

The Professional Association of Internes and Residents of Saskatchewan says the loss of a pathologist, whose termination they are calling an apparent "political firing," is putting the training of pathologists in jeopardy at the University of Saskatchewan. "A loss of one pathologist worsens a severe shortage of pathologists in Saskatoon and affects the training all residents moving through pathology receive," the association says in a release. The dean of uSask's College of Medicine says the training residents are receiving has not been affected. The university's pathology resident program will undergo an external review before the end of next January. Saskatoon Star-Phoenix
