Residents concerned about uManitoba stadium traffic
July 13, 2011
Plans have been approved for a new $190-million football stadium at the University of Manitoba, despite community concerns that it may cause significant traffic congestion on game days. The city voted in favour of a plan that includes the encouragement of fans to take the bus, longer and better-synchronized traffic lights, and premium parking spots for carpoolers, game-day shuttles and park-and-rides. (Exactly who is footing the bill for the implementation of these ideas has not yet been revealed.) Skeptics are concerned that the plan lacks concrete information and does not provide assurance that traffic will not be an issue. Winnipeg Free Press
