CTRC board dissolved

March 23, 2011

Saskatchewan Advanced Education Minister Rob Norris announced Tuesday he has accepted the resignations of several members of Carlton Trail Regional College's board. The minister invoked the provisions of The Regional Colleges Act to appoint an administrator to replace the institution's board and take over day-to-day operations. Under the act, the minister may appoint a person as administrator of a regional college if financial or significant operation problems exist in connection to the school. Information gathered during a study on a proposed merger of CTRC and St. Peter's College prompted a further review of the colleges' governance. Norris admits his ministry failed to pay adequate attention when financial and governance issues were first brought to its attention.
