SMU to discontinue women's hockey program

As a result of budget deliberations, and following a detailed review of its sports programs, Saint Mary's University announced Friday it will discontinue its women's varsity hockey team. Over the coming weeks, SMU athletics and student services staff will work with any players who want to transfer to another university. President Colin Dodds says discontinuing the women's hockey program was a painful, but necessary, decision. SMU News Release
