Arctic College relaunches computer systems technician program

Nunavut Arctic College is relaunching a computer systems technician program after a five-year hiatus in order to address a gap in the Nunavut workforce. The program will offer lessons in operating systems, networking technologies, computer hardware, and system administration, and includes a six-week placement. The program was originally launched in 2007, but was shut down in 2017 due to factors such as low student enrolment and funding issues. The program is now receiving base funding and will be further refined in future years based on employer feedback. The college is also looking to offer parts of the program online, so that students can enrol from their home communities.
