AUCC Welcomes Federal Funding Announcement

The federal government's annual fall fiscal and economic update, released Thursday, included a promise of additional supports for the post-secondary sector. The Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada (AUCC) said Friday that the government’s commitment to continued investments for basic or primary research is a vital foundation for the future. Support pledged for graduate scholarships, research equipment and facilities, and attracting foreign students to Canada’s universities is also critical. The federal government’s commitment in the strategy to maintain Canada’s G7 leadership in public sector R&D investment is an important signal to Canadian universities and to the world’s research community.
