Cambridge should give $6 million to Conestoga

A Cambridge city councillor will be pushing for the municipality to give the $5.7 million Conestoga College requested from the city earlier this year for its $50-million expansion in the town. Cambridge's mayor says the town has already made a donation to the college in the form of 54 acres of land Conestoga bought for $5.7 million from Cambridge back in October -- the same amount the city paid for the land 5 years ago. Earlier this week, council accepted a staff report noting that it is "problematic" for the municipality to offer any financial help to Conestoga. Waterloo Region Record
