CAUT council condemns Ontario college management for refusing to negotiate in good faith

December 2, 2009

Delegates attending the Canadian Association of University Teachers' national council last weekend passed a resolution condemning Ontario's College Compensation and Appointments Council for failing to bargain in good faith with the Ontario Public Service Employees Union. Last month the council imposed a new contract on college faculty, which CAUT says affects workload and academic freedom protections. CAUT plans to write to the Ontario government to urge it to order negotiators to get back to the bargaining table. The Ontario Federation of Labour has also condemned the contract imposition.
