CICan makes commitments to EDI, search for residential school victims

July 8, 2021
Colleges & Institutes Canada (CICan) has issued public statements committing the organization to equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) and supporting Indigenous communities’ connections with colleges and institutions. This week, CICan has launched a national initiative called ImpAct-EDI in collaboration with Sheridan College, Collège de Maisonneuve, NorQuest College and Vancouver Community College. The initiative will facilitate the sharing of best practices and the coordination of a culture of inclusiveness within the colleges and institutes system through three main initiatives: a new National EDI Advisory Committee, a CICan Centre of Excellence on EDI, and the creation of a community of practice. In late June, CICan also pledged to help Indigenous communities connect with local colleges or institutes to facilitate locating and identifying residential school victims.
