CNA and MUN receive largest-ever gifts from The Joyce Foundation

November 28, 2014

The College of the North Atlantic and Memorial University have each received donations from The Joyce Foundation for the creation of student bursaries and support programs. The individual donations are the largest ever received by each institution from a private foundation. CNA will receive $2 M to establish the Joyce Foundation Bursary, providing students in need with up to $4,000 per year for tuition and related expenses; the bursary will be renewable up to 3 years. In addition, a mentor program will be created to support students. At MUN, $5 M will be used to create Joyce Foundation bursaries, which will be available to full-time students and will be renewable for up to 4 years. MUN will also develop an outreach strategy to reach potential students in high school. “Education is vital to the social and economic health of individuals, families and communities,” said Ronald Joyce. “I am delighted that this gift will help young Newfoundlanders and Labradorians, who would otherwise have no opportunity or means, to realize their full potential.” CNA News | MUN News
