Dal’s Dallaire Institute to receive $1M for research on exposure to child soldiers

July 8, 2021
Dalhousie University’s Dallaire Institute will be receiving over $1M from the Veteran and Family Well-Being Fund to study how exposure to child soldiers during military service affects mental health. The study, which will take place over five years, will inform the development of supports for military personnel and their families. “With this extraordinary support from Veterans Affairs Canada, the Dallaire Institute will be able to conduct first-of-its-kind research and advocacy to better understand and potentially treat and even prevent moral injury as it relates to our own Canadian Armed Forces,” said Dr Shelly Whitman, Executive Director of the Dallaire Institute for Children, Peace and Security.
