Dal TAs start strike, CBU enters conciliation with faculty union

Dalhousie University’s teaching assistants and part-time instructors have gone on strike, while Cape Breton University has entered conciliation with its faculty association. Dal TAs, as well as some part-time instructors and markers represented by CUPE Local 3912 went on strike on Wednesday. A key issue is TA and part-time instructor salaries. Dal’s campus will remain open during the strike, though union members will not be teaching, marking, or holding exams. At CBU, the Cape Breton University Faculty Union and the university have jointly agreed to conciliation to negotiate a new collective agreement.
