"Everyone wanted it": ON rule change scraps Conestoga bus pass

May 6, 2019

A time limitation imposed by the Government of Ontario has forced Conestoga College and Waterloo Region to cancel a proposed UPass. According to the Waterloo Region Record, the government’s opt-out option for non-mandatory on-campus services means that only those schools with signed transit agreements before January 17th may include UPass fees in their tuition. Conestoga held a successful UPass referendum in 2018 and the Region approved the plan in its 2019 budget, but the two parties had not yet signed an agreement. Waterloo Region Record [ON]
