Fired FNUC CFO sues school for wrongful dismissal

January 25, 2010

Former First Nations University of Canada CFO Murray Westerlund has filed a lawsuit against the institution, claiming wrongful dismissal. Westerlund alleged he was marginalized and then fired in December for writing documents detailing violations by FNUC officials. The documents outline alleged misuse of funds and inappropriate expense claims. In light of Westerlund's allegations, Saskatchewan's advanced education minister has called an emergency meeting with the University of Regina, of which FNUC is an affiliate, to discuss the financial situation at FNUC.
