IBEW to build electricians’ college in Holyrood

August 20, 2015

The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) has announced that it will build a state-of-the-art electrical training college in Holyrood, Newfoundland and Labrador. The centre’s projected completion in 2017 will mark the first time local electrical workers will have the opportunity to work in a local training centre. An IBEW representative said that union membership has tripled over the past year and that the IBEW expects to see increasing need for skilled electricians in the future. Another business agent told reporters that the new college will be “the best [of its kind] in North America.” CBC
