Laurentian radio station rejects $25K conditional donation that aimed to settle land dispute

November 1, 2019

A land dispute between a Sudbury couple and Laurentian University dating back to 2017 now also involves the school’s radio station, CKLU. In 2016, Laurentian alumna James Crispo and Dominique Ansell purchased a property at the border of Laurentian land. Later, Laurentian informed the couple that aspects of their property –landscaping, a septic tank, and a maintenance shed—encroached upon its land and offered to sell the couple the land for $12K. Crispo and Ansell accepted the offer, but four months later, the university backed out. The couple’s most recent attempt to solve the dispute involved offering of a one-time $25K donation to CKLU, Laurentian’s radio station, which is facing a funding shortfall. CKLU has reportedly rejected the couple’s offer. CBC | Sudbury Star (ON)
