McGill suspends football player charged with assault

McGill University has suspended a player on its varsity football team after the 22-year-old man was charged with armed robbery, assault, and uttering threats. In a news release, McGill said that “in line with the University’s varsity athletics guidelines, effective immediately, this player is suspended from the football team pending resolution of his Case by the court.” McGill also said that it will thoroughly investigate the matter and “take any and all measures that are deemed appropriate.” The player was arrested on Wednesday and was scheduled to be arraigned in court on Thursday.
