MIT provides free access to its research articles

March 24, 2009

Last week, faculty at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology voted in favour of making their scholarly articles available to the public for free and open access online. Under the new policy, faculty grant the institution nonexclusive permission to distribute their articles through its free online repository, and both faculty and MIT have the right to use and share the articles for any non-profit purpose. Since 2001, MIT has made lecture notes and other course material available on the Internet for free. MIT News | CBC
