MITT launches mental health training program

The Manitoba Institute of Trades and Technology has launched a free mental health literacy program for students. More Feet on the Ground teaches students how to recognize signs of mental health distress, respond appropriately, refer others to mental health services, and reflect on the experience of helping an individual in distress. The program consists of a live online workshop and group discussions, and students will receive a certificate upon completion. “This workshop brings together a diverse set of students, who have varying ideas and experiences around mental health and how they share their feelings with others,” said Kayla Hoskins, accessibility student adviser at MITT.
