Navigating challenges around international students and vaccine requirements: Editorial

July 8, 2021
Postsecondary institutions that plan to require vaccines for Fall 2021 are navigating challenges deciding what vaccines will be approved for international students, writes Elizabeth Redden. The author explains that, in the US context, institutions must determine what vaccines will be accepted and if they will require revaccination for students who have received a vaccine that is not approved by the US. Redden says that postsecondary institutions must plan how they will manage unvaccinated international students who wish to live in student housing. The article highlights the decisions and protocols that several institutions in the US have put in place, including requiring students to follow certain guidelines until they are fully vaccinated or accepting any COVID-19 vaccine.
