NB Student Alliance calls for reinvestment of tuition rebate cuts

October 1, 2015

Members of the New Brunswick Student Alliance (NBSA) have expressed frustration over the province’s delay in reinvesting funds left over from the elimination of the New Brunswick Tuition Rebate (NBTR). NB announced six months ago that it would eliminate the rebate, but it has reportedly not delivered any further details on what it will do with the $22.4 M saved by the cut. NBSA Executive Director Lindsay Handren said, "the New Brunswick Tuition Rebate was by no means the perfect program, and we understand the rationale for its elimination. … However, to be standing here six months out with no reinvestment of those funds back into financial aid—or clear plan in place to do so—is extremely worrisome."
