NorQuest removes barriers to education for Indigenous students

November 18, 2020
NorQuest College is taking steps to remove barriers to postsecondary education for Indigenous learners. Indigenous applicants will be given the option of waiving their tuition deposit, which will prevent students without the financial resources to pay the deposit from losing their seat in their chosen program, being waitlisted, or being deterred from the program entirely. NorQuest has also developed admission minimums in high-demand programs in order to address the under-representation of Indigenous students. Additionally, NorQuest will develop a holistic Indigenous Admissions Model, which may consider the lived experiences, knowledge, and achievements of Indigenous students in determining program eligibility.
