Queen's denied bylaw exemption for orientation concert
June 21, 2008
Kingston city council has turned down Queen's University's request for a noise-control bylaw exemption for its annual orientation week concert. The request was rejected due to the concert's location and 13-hour duration. However, the council is open to granting the exemption should Queen's amend its request. Queen’s Alma Mater Society president suggests that the city is drawing comparisons of orientation week to the Aberdeen Street party. City council did approve a bylaw exemption for a new orientation event -- an outdoor semi-formal dance. Kingston Whig-Standard
