Sask Polytech launches Health Care Cook program

Saskatchewan Polytechnic has launched a Health Care Cook program. The 39-week program was developed in partnership with the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA). Students will develop skills such as general cooking, menu planning, nutrition, and kitchen operations so that they are prepared for work in healthcare settings, and will study how to modify diets so that they meet the texture and nutritional requirements of various medical conditions. Students will also learn about the importance of Indigenous foodways. SHA employees will be able to apply their prior learning experiences as credits toward the program while taking part in the program virtually.
