November 4, 2008

Hamilton police have charged a 19-year-old McMaster University student with arson endangering life and arson to property after a fire last month left nearly 600 students living in Brandon Hall homeless. Police say Emerson Pardoe, who lived in the building, is responsible for 2 fires set in Brandon Hall on October 18. Pardoe was arrested on campus on Monday and held overnight for a bail hearing. A majority of affected students are residing in a series of hotels and may not return to the residence until January. McMaster Daily News | Hamilton Spectator
