Students launch petitions to decertify from CFS

September 5, 2013

Members from several student unions throughout the country have launched petitions to decertify from the Canadian Federation of Students, according to a press release circulated this week. “Students are realizing that their interests are not served by the CFS,” says Ashleigh Ingle, movement spokesperson and graduate student at the University of Toronto. “We have come to this decision because of what we feel are ineffective low standards of democratic processes,” says Brendan Lehman, a student from Laurentian University. Ingle says that “no student union executive has taken an official stance at this time” on the movement. | News Release
