Thompson River University, University of Northern British Columbia, and University of British Columbia Okanagan researchers are leading research projects that will address the problems faced by rural British Columbians. Supported by the Interior University Research Coalition’s (IURC) Regional/Rural/Remote Communities Collaborative Research Grant, the funded projects grapple with disparate topics such as aging (TRU), water treatment (UNBC), and mental-health resiliency (UBCO) in the face of climate change. “Rural and remote communities in non-metropolitan areas are experiencing economic, social and environmental changes that are profound and complex,” said Janice Larsen, IURC director. “It is vital to understand and support the healthy and stable development of our society, our economy and our environment.” TRU | UNBC (BC)
