uAlberta draws interest from Ivy League faculty

As a result of the global economic downturn's impact on elite US academic institutions, top Canadian universities are now in an ideal position to recruit world-class talent. The University of Alberta is being flooded with resumes from Harvard and other Ivy League schools. uAlberta president Indira Samarasekera says the school's deans are overwhelmed by the great candidates they are receiving. She notes that downturns create opportunities for forward-looking organizations, and the university aims to capitalize on the current economic situation. Edmonton Journal
