UBC student threatened school to avoid class presentation

At a sentencing hearing for a University of British Columbia student who made threats against the institution last year, the court heard that Hwi Lee had an intense fear of public speaking and threatened the university in order to avoid having to give an oral presentation. In late January of last year, RCMP locked down and evacuated the biological sciences building after receiving a threat that Lee would commit suicide and take others with him. A week later, UBC received a threat involving fireworks, prompting a second lockdown. CBC
