uLethbridge selects design option for new Science and Academic building

November 28, 2014

The board of governors at the University of Lethbridge has approved a design plan for the new Science and Academic building. The approved design is called “The Hub” and will incorporate a central core where paths from laboratories and the rest of campus intersect. The building development, part of uLethbridge’s “Destination Project,” is based on 5 project charter goals: connect to campus & community, enable transdisciplinary learning and research, provide a supportive environment, incorporate sustainable design, and create signature architecture. The Destination Project Steering Committee considered design options with these goals in mind, and held a series of community forums to gather feedback on design options before settling on the Hub concept. The new facility will allow instructors to incorporate modern teaching methods; in addition, the building will provide space for entrepreneurial activity and will contain a highly sustainable energy centre that will serve the entire campus. uLethbridge News
