UWO to offer gender-neutral washrooms

December 1, 2008

The University of Western Ontario will join a number of Canadian universities, such as UBC and Simon Fraser University, in opening 10 gender-neutral washrooms on campus. The washrooms are designed for transgendered students, but can also be used for those wanting to breastfeed or wash up before prayer. The washrooms will be concentrated in the University Community Centre and surrounding buildings. In January, UWO will start rolling out the washrooms, which are expected to be all functional by April. London Free Press
