Western launches Institute for Earth and Space with ‘other worldly’ symbol

October 9, 2019

Western University officially opened the Institute for Earth and Space with an ‘other worldly’ symbol. Alongside a recorded congratulations from the Canadian Space Agency astronaut David Saint-Jacques, Western officials celebrated the launch of the centre through the presentation of a Western patch that was aboard the International Space Station (ISS). Building on the foundations of the former centre, the new institute will house 60 researchers and more than 40 graduate students across eight faculties and nine departments. Western President Alan Shepard notes that the interdisciplinary nature of the institute is the university’s “secret weapon.” Western (ON)
