What Ontario college and university presidents are making

April 1, 2009

According to the Ontario government's Public Sector Salary Disclosure list, McMaster University president Peter George is the highest-paid university president in the province, earning $533,913 last year. He did not, however, receive the highest salary among university employees. University of Toronto's managing director of investment strategy, John Lyon, made $557,474 in 2008 (ironic considering...). The "Sunshine List" shows that college executives in Ontario remain "underpaid" in comparison to their university peers, though many of them are catching up. Seneca College president Rick Miner received the highest salary of provincial college presidents in 2008, making $410,984.
